Chinese New Year Work Dinner

Our particular table at the work dinner consisted of me, S, four local
Chinese coworkers(who only filled half of available seats), and more
food than would fit on the table. They kept bringing dishes even after
this photo.While we didn't come close to eating all of the food, S
and I had no trouble finishing off the two bottles of wine (with little
help from our coworkers, who were more interested in drinking Fanta).

Yes, I'm allowed breaks in China

Actually, I'm not sure if we're technically allowed breaks, but I'm American so I'll take one, thank you.

Mmmm... pigs feet

Somewhere near our local grocery store there are a bunch of pigs
rolling around without feet.

Not all smog, but not all fog

I thought it was just a cloudy day until I spotted the smoldering sun
above the skyline. It's not like this every day fortunately... today
was sunny and beautiful... If really cold.

Serenity in the produce isle and figuring out Hot Pots

I sound pretty crappy in these but they're several days old and fortunately I'm not so miserably sick now.


We've been back to another Hot Pot since and the process felt a little more normal the second time around. The menu had English on it so we at least knew what we were ordering. The pic below is part of their menu and there wasn't too much that I was feeling up to trying from the "Other Meats" list...
